Thinking About Riding a Motorcycle in Korea?

Motorcycle touring in Korea

Wondering if the roads are good, if fuel is easy to find, or what traffic is like? There’s a lot to think about before you actually hit the road. This guide answers the most common questions riders ask—and gives you a real look at what it’s like to explore Korea on two wheels.

Well-Connected Roads Across the Country

Korea’s national roads are well connected, making it easy to ride from Seoul to the coast, the mountains, or even a traditional village—no matter where you want to go. Even in the countryside or outside big cities, most roads are scenic and well-paved, so long-distance rides stay smooth and enjoyable. While motorcycles aren’t allowed on highways in Korea, that’s not a problem. You can still get to places like Sokcho, Busan, or Jeonju easily by following well-maintained national roads. Winding through forested backroads, stopping in a quiet village, and ending your day near the ocean? All of that’s possible—on two wheels.

⛽ No Need to Worry About Fuel

One of the most common questions we get is:

Do I need to carry extra fuel if I’m heading out of the city?

The answer is—no, you don’t. Gas stations are evenly spread across the country, including in rural areas. In most cases, there’s a station within 15 kilometers of wherever you are. As long as you check your fuel before setting off, you’ll be able to refill at the next stop without any stress.

Which Map Apps Work Best in Korea?

In Korea, the two most reliable and widely used navigation apps are Naver Map and Kakao Map.

Both apps support English, and since mobile internet works almost everywhere in Korea, you won’t need to worry about losing signal or getting lost. Even better—both apps offer a motorcycle mode, so you’ll get directions that avoid highways and car-only roads, helping you ride safely and legally.

🅿️ Parking Is Simple, and Riding Is Smooth

In most places, motorcycle parking is free—and pretty easy to find. Even in busy areas, you can usually park without much trouble. Korea’s road system is generally well-organized, so if you’ve had some experience riding a motorcycle, you’ll likely find it smooth and easy to get around.
