International Driving Permit

International Driving Permit

Only International Driving Permits (IDPs) issued Geneva or Vienna Convention countries are accepted.

  • An International Driving Permit (IDP) allows the holder to legally drive in various countries that recognize it. To remain valid, the IDP must be accompanied by a valid driver’s license issued in the same country (which must be the applicant’s country of residence) and a valid passport.
  • The IDP (International Driving Permit) is only a translation, and you must carry your domestic driver’s license along with it at all times.
  • Since Korea is a signatory to the Geneva Convention, holders of a valid International Driving Permit issued by Geneva Convention countries can drive in Korea for up to one year from their date of entry.
  • Additionally, holders of a valid International Driving Permit issued by Vienna Convention countries are also allowed to drive in Korea for the same duration of up to one year from their entry date.

※ International Driving Licenses (IDLs) are not accepted.
※ Please refer to the table below for a list of the Convention countries.
