International Driving Permit

Only International Driving Permits (IDPs) issued Geneva or Vienna Convention countries are accepted.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) allows the holder to legally drive in various countries that recognize it. To remain valid, the IDP must be accompanied by a valid driver’s license issued in the same country (which must be the applicant’s country of residence) and a valid passport.
The IDP (International Driving Permit) is only a translation, and you must carry your domestic driver’s license along with it at all times.
Since Korea is a signatory to the Geneva Convention, holders of a valid International Driving Permit issued by Geneva Convention countries can drive in Korea for up to one year from their date of entry.
Additionally, holders of a valid International Driving Permit issued by Vienna Convention countries are also allowed to drive in Korea for the same duration of up to one year from their entry date.
